Person dies in northwest Durham crash on Cole Mill Road
DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) -- One person died in a crash in northwest Durham on Saturday night. The wreck happened before 9 p.m. along Cole Mill Road at Nancy Rhodes Drive, just south of the Sparger Road intersection, reports said. There was no word about how the deadly crash happened, but Durham police closed both directions of Cole Mill Road between Nancy Rhodes Drive and West Wyndham Lane. Crime scene tape was up across the road, and two white athletic shoes were seen on different parts of the road, the locations highlighted with police evidence markers. Several bystanders were gathered near the scene at the entrance to the Whitehall neighborhood on West Wyndham Lane. Cole Mill Road was still closed as of 11 p.m. Saturday. CBS 17 reached out to the Durham Police Department for information about the crash.
