Pedestrian killed in North Sac hit-and-run crash, police investigating
(FOX40.COM) — Police are investigating after an unknown driver fled when a car crash killed a pedestrian in North Sacramento. On Saturday, just after 8 p.m., officers with the Sacramento Police Department responded to the scene of the crash at the intersection of Norwood and Jessie avenues just north of Interstate 80 in north Sacramento. Officers found an adult male pedestrian in the roadway, the department announced Sunday evening. Despite life-saving measures, the man died at the scene. The man, who was not named, was hit in a two-vehicle collision, police said. One vehicle remained on the scene, but the second fled before police arrived. The department's Major Collision Investigation Unit and its Crime Scene Investigators are leading the investigation. Officers canvassed the area and interviewed witnesses, but the incident remains under investigation. The victim's identity will be released after the Sacramento County Coroner's Office notifies his next-of-kin. Witnesses, or anyone else with information, are encouraged to contact the department.
