Pedestrian dies after being struck in York County multi-vehicle crash

The Fairview Township Police Department is investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian and two vehicles at the intersection of State Route 177 and Bull Road/Traver Drive just after 4:15 p.m. Tuesday. According to police, officers responded to a report of a crash involving two vehicles and a pedestrian.Pedestrian struck while standing on shoulderInvestigators said both vehicles were traveling south on State Route 177 when one vehicle rear-ended the other and then struck a pedestrian who was standing on the shoulder of the road. Police said the pedestrian, a 78-year-old man, had crossed the roadway from Bull Road to Traver Drive before he was hit. Pronounced dead at Hershey Medical CenterThe man was flown by medical helicopter to Hershey Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead. Fairview Township Police said no further information will be released at this time.
