Patterson Road closed after fatal car collision with building
Update: A recent Grand Junction Police Department report sheds new light on the vehicle crash incident highlighted in this story. The collision, which tragically resulted in a fatality, caused the closure of a portion of Patterson Road on Wednesday morning. The crash took place at approximately 6:05 a.m. in the 2600 block of Patterson Road. Police investigations revealed that the driver, heading west on Patterson Road, veered into oncoming traffic and collided with a building. Authorities suspect that the driver may have experienced a medical emergency just before the accident. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among those inside the building. The driver, unfortunately, did not survive, despite attempts by Grand Junction Fire Department paramedics to save them. Identity disclosure is pending notification of next of kin by the Mesa County Coroner's Office. While alcohol is not believed to be a contributing factor in the crash, investigations are ongoing. The road section was reopened around 9:30 a.m., and one eastbound lane between Northern Way and 12th Street is anticipated to remain closed for several hours as part of the ongoing investigations. Travelers are advised to seek alternate routes for the safety of emergency responders.
