Owensboro man to serve 1.5 years in deadly 2024 shooting

HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT) - An Owensboro man is sentenced for his role in a deadly 2024 shooting. Cayden Moorman will spend a year and a half in prison after pleading guilty to reckless homicide. The shooting happened at an apartment on Gateway Drive. 22-year-old Dawone Howard was killed after police initially said Howard, Moorman and one other person were smoking marijuana and handling guns in an unsafe manner. Moorman's toxicology report later came back clean. The county prosecutor in the case called the shooting "a tragic, preventable accident."
