Orange County pursuit ends in deadly crash at commuter lot
A pursuit suspect was killed and his passenger injured when their vehicle crashed into a pole while fleeing from officers in Orange County Friday morning. Officers spotted what they believed was illegal drug activity inside a vehicle while patrolling the area of Euclid Street and Crescent Avenue, according to the Anaheim Police Department. When officers attempted to make contact by activating their emergency lights and siren, the driver sped off, prompting a pursuit. The chase continued into Fullerton, where the driver entered a park-and-ride commuter parking lot at 3000 W. Orangethorpe Ave. A short time later, the vehicle crashed into a concrete pole. Officers rendered aid and requested assistance from Fullerton Fire and Rescue personnel. “Despite life-saving efforts, the adult male driver was pronounced deceased at the scene,” police said. The passenger was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police have not released the names of either suspect.
