One killed in two-vehicle crash on Thursday morning
WASHINGTON CITY, Utah (ABC4) — One man was killed in a crash in Washington City on Thursday morning. According to the Washington City Police Department (WCPD), there was a two-vehicle crash at Silver Falls Drive and Washington Fields Road around 8:55 a.m. on Thursday. The driver of a white Mercury Mountaineer had been attempting to make a left hand turn from Silver Falls Drive, while a Ford was traveling northbound on Washington Fields Road. The Ford collided with the driver side door of the Mercury. WCPD stated that "it appears the driver of the Mercury did not see the Ford approaching as he continued to make the left turn." Unfortunately, the Mercury driver was injured and declared dead on scene of the accident, despite life-saving efforts. Police have only disclosed that he is a Washington City resident and a male. The Ford driver is reportedly cooperating with the investigation, which is still ongoing. WCPD stated that no formal charges have been submitted against the Ford driver at this time. "The Washington City Police Department sends our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the victim of this tragic accident," WCPD added, also thanking Washington City Fire, St. George City Police Department, Washington County Sheriff's Office, Utah Highway Patrol, Utah Department of Transportation, Gold Cross Ambulance, and citizens on scene for their assistance.
