One hurt, one cited in crash involving sheriff's department vehicle

One person was injured Thursday when a car and a Morgan County Sheriff's Department vehicle collided at North West and West Court streets, according to police. Matthew Jones, 33, of Jacksonville was going north on North West Street about 12:54 p.m. Thursday when his car and a sheriff's department vehicle being driven by Caleb R. Bourne, 36, of Jacksonville collided, according to a police report. Bourne, who was going east on West Court Street, was cited on a charge of failure to yield at an intersection, according to a police report. Jones was treated at Jacksonville Memorial Hospital. It was the second crash this week involving a sheriff's department vehicle. Police were called about 12:22 p.m. Monday to Sandusky Street and Dorset Lane for a two-vehicle crash. A county-owned vehicle being driven by Lucas Tapscott, 49, of Jacksonville and a vehicle being driven by Thomas O. Dillard, 60, of Jacksonville collided, according to a police report. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene, police said. No one was injured, and no citations were issued.
