One fatality, three injured in accident closing part of MO-291 Highway on Saturday

A tragic incident occurred in Independence, Missouri, resulting in one fatality and three individuals sustaining serious injuries due to a collision on MO-291 Highway. The accident involved two trucks, where a Chevrolet Silverado ran a red light on Kentucky Road and collided with a Ford Ranger at the intersection, causing the vehicles to come to a stop in the highway's southbound lanes. Sadly, a passenger in the Ford Ranger, 36-year-old Jennifer Jensen from Kansas City, lost her life. The other occupants of the Ranger and the driver of the Silverado were also seriously injured and hospitalized. The Independence Police Department suspects alcohol impairment played a role in the crash and has initiated an investigation. The southbound lanes of MO-291 Highway were shut down for a period while authorities cleared the area, reopening before 2 a.m. The IPD Accident Investigation Unit continues to probe the details of the fatal incident.
