One dead, three others seriously hurt in I-435 crash on Saturday

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- One person died and three others were seriously hurt in a crash on I-435 near Eastwood Trafficway on Saturday afternoon, the Kansas City Police Department (KCPD) says. The department shared that at around 4 p.m., a Chevrolet Suburban was speeding north on I-435 when the driver went off the right side of the road. The Suburban headed through the grassy shoulder of the road and went into a broad slide, rolling several times before stopping. A front-seat passenger of the vehicle was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene, KCPD said. The driver was taken to a hospital with critical injuries and is in serious, but stable condition. Two children in the back seats were both seriously injured, but are in stable condition as well. KCPD also confirmed that all northbound lanes of I-435 were closed at Eastwood Trafficway for around three hours, but have been reopened.
