One dead after crash leads to I-26 closure near Little Mountain
NEWBERRY COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) - Multiple accidents along I-26 led to a complete temporary closure of the interstate, according to Newberry County Emergency Management. Officials said multiple accidents with injuries have led to the closure of I-26 at exit 85 near Little Mountain. As of 10 p.m., the roads appear to have been reopened. According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a 2017 Toyota Camry, 2025 International box truck, and 2025 Nissan Sentry were traveling eat on I-26. The Camry had stopped in traffic, and the box truck was slowing down when the Sentry then struck the truck in the rear. Authorities said the driver of the Nissan was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim has not yet been released.
