One dead after crash in Stottville
STOCKPORT, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- One person has died after a single-car rollover crash on State Route 9 in Stockport Wednesday night. According to the Stottville Fire Company #2, the crash happened around 9:30 p.m. According to New York State Police, they were dispatched just after 10 p.m. for reports of a rollover near 829 Route 9 in Stockport. The fire company said the crash happened just north of the Stockport Garage. Upon arrival, they found that a 2002 Ford collided with a tree. A preliminary investigation determined the car, driven by 26-year-old Mohammad Alamin, was headed south when it left the road, hit a guide rail, crossed into the northbound lane and hit a tree before overturning. Crews with the Stockport Volunteer Fire Company extricated the victim from the car. Troopers said Alamin was pronounced dead at the scene. Route 9 was closed until 11:30 p.m. According to the fire departments, state police was assisted by the Greenport Rescue Squad, the Columbia County Fire Coordinator's Office and the Columbia County Coroners Office. Troopers said the crash remains under investigation.
