One airlifted after crash on northbound I-15 near Levan; I-15 closed
LEVAN, Utah (ABC4) — Northbound I-15 is closed near milepost 210, near Levan, due to a crash. One person was airlifted from the scene, and police have confirmed that they have died from their injuries. According to the Utah Department of Transportation, there is a crash on northbound I-15, leading to closures around milepost 206. Currently, traffic is exiting and using SR-78 and SR-28 as alternate routes. They are connecting back to I-15 at milepost 223, near Nephi. Courtesy: Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Davies Sanchez, with Utah Highway Patrol says it was a three-vehicle crash that was not blocking the lanes. However, they had to block the road to land a medical helicopter. The driver of a blue SUV reportedly failed to stop when traffic slowed in a construction zone and struck the rear of a white sedan. It then sideswiped a black SUV before crashing into a crash. One individual was airlifted with a possible head injury, and police have since confirmed they succumbed to their injuries. Courtesy: Utah Highway Patrol Initial estimates state that the road should reopen shortly around 4:06 p.m. However, it is still closed at this time and latest reports state it should reopen around 6:30pm. Travelers should avoid the area, if possible, and expect heavy delays. Officials have not released any additional information at this time.
