Oklahoma Highway Patrol investigating train collision with woman near Pauls Valley.
A tragic incident occurred in Garvin County on Sunday when a woman lost her life after being hit by a train. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is looking into the fatal accident that led to the closure of the rail crossing at East County Road 1550 in Pauls Valley for several hours, even though the collision itself took place further down the tracks in a wooded area. Trooper Isidro Barrios confirmed that the woman was walking south on the tracks when the train struck her. Details surrounding why she was on the tracks are still being investigated. The incident took place around 2 p.m. in a secluded part of the tracks, not visible from the street. Emergency responders, including the Pauls Valley Fire Department and the Garvin County Sheriff's Office, were observed at the scene. Barrios stressed the importance of being mindful of one's surroundings and advised against walking on railroad tracks, urging people to consider alternative routes. BNSF Railway was contacted for comments but their response has not been received yet.
