OHP trooper injured in rollover crash while responding to wreck in eastern Oklahoma
LONGTOWN, Okla. (KFOR) — A state trooper was injured Monday morning after his patrol unit was struck while responding to a separate injury collision involving an overturned dump truck. According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, at around 10 a.m. on Monday, troopers were responding to the scene of an injury crash involving a dump truck. While en route with lights and sirens activated, a trooper was traveling on State Highway 9 near State Highway 9A in the area of Longtown when they attempted to pass a vehicle on the left before that vehicle decided to make a turn and struck the trooper. The impact caused the patrol vehicle to roll several times before it came to rest upright off the roadway. Officials say the trooper was trapped inside for at least 15 minutes before emergency crews were able to extract him. He was airlifted to a Tulsa-area hospital in stable condition and was later released. The driver of the other vehicle was said to have suffered minor injuries. The crash remains under investigation.
