Ogden woman gets 2-year jail term for friend's death in 2025 accident

A woman from Ogden has been given a two-year jail sentence due to a car accident on March 29 last year resulting in the death of a passenger in the car she was driving. Alyssa Palomo, 21, pleaded guilty in November to charges of automobile homicide and negligently operating a vehicle causing an injury related to the incident. This led to 2nd District Judge Jason Nelson sentencing her to five to 15 years in prison, with a suspension of the prison term in exchange for serving a year in jail for each charge consecutively, with credit for time already served. Palomo, who was consuming alcohol at the time, had caused a head-on collision on Harrison Boulevard in Ogden. She had a high blood-alcohol concentration and THC in her system. Despite warnings not to drive and having had a designated driver in her group, Palomo chose to drive, leading to the accident at approximately 70 mph. The crash left the other driver with injuries.
