Off-Duty NYPD Officer Involved in Deadly Taconic Highway Wrong-Way Collision
A tragic incident occurred on the Taconic State Parkway in Westchester County late Thursday evening, resulting in the death of a 61-year-old man following a wrong-way crash involving an off-duty NYPD officer. The accident, which occurred near mile marker 3.7 in the Town of Mount Pleasant just after 11:30 p.m., involved a 2021 Infiniti driven by Officer Tiffany P. Howell, 47, of Warwick, traveling southbound in the northbound lanes and colliding head-on with a 2024 Toyota driven by Manuel Boitel, 61, of Peekskill. Boitel tragically lost his life, while Howell sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Westchester Medical Center for treatment.
