Off-Duty NYPD Officer Hits Pedestrian in Fatal Orangeburg Collision
The New York Attorney General’s Office is looking into the death of a man who was hit and killed by an off-duty NYPD officer in Rockland County. The incident, which resulted in the death of William Huertas, 45, of Haverstraw, occurred on Saturday, Dec. 13, on Route 303 in Orangeburg. Huertas, a pedestrian, was struck by the officer's vehicle and later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. The Attorney General's Office is investigating under Executive Law Section 70-b, required to review incidents involving police officers causing deaths.
