NY man sentenced to prison after fatal DUI crash

A North Country man could spend more than a decade in prison after he admitted to driving drunk and killing another driver last summer, according to Clinton County District Attorney Andrew Wylie.Joshua Snide, 35, of Ellenburg entered guilty pleas in January to several charges, including manslaughter, for causing the crash that killed Theresa Rinn, 76, in Altona.Wylie said in a press release Tuesday that Snide was speeding on Plank Road in June when he crossed lanes into oncoming traffic and struck Rinn's car.Snide initially left the scene. He was picked up by his father and later returned. His blood alcohol level was .22 at the time of the crash, and prosecutors said he'd also used marijuana.During the sentencing, Snide apologized to the Rinn family members and called the crash and accident, according to the Tuesday press release. Snide was sentenced to 5-15 years in prison, the maximum sentence allowable by law."This sentence reflects the devastating consequences of choosing to drive drunk," Wylie said. "Theresa Rinn should still be alive today."
