New Haven police identifies person killed in Saturday crash on Woodward Avenue

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) -- The New Haven Police Department has identified the person killed in the crash on Woodward Avenue on Saturday afternoon. According to the New Haven Police Department, officers responded to the 600 block of Woodward Avenue at around 1:27 p.m. on Saturday for a report of a crash and found a Hyundai Elantra which had struck a tree and an 18-year-old Bridgeport man who had been sitting in the back seat lying on the ground. The driver, a 20-year-old Bridgeport woman, and 23-year-old Jocelyn Hernandez of West Haven, were found in the car with apparent injuries. All three were taken to Yale New Haven Hospital, where Hernandez died from her injuries. The rear passenger has serious but non-life-threatening injuries and the driver is in critical condition, according to police.
