New Carlisle man dies after crashing into two trees
A New Carlisle man is dead after crashing into two trees Saturday night. Around 10 PM, LaPorte County police responded to a single-vehicle accident several hundred feet away from County Road 850 East on County Road 1000 North. According to police, the vehicle, driven by 22-year-old Austin Vanasdall, crossed the centerline, traveled into the westbound lane, and left the roadway, striking two trees before coming to a stop. Vanasdall died at the scene. Speed is believed to be a factor in the crash, as it remains under investigation.
