New autopsy findings released for victims of Nippon Dynawave disaster in Longview
The Cowlitz County Coroner's Office has released the cause and manner of death for 10 of the people killed in the tank implosion at the Nippon paper mill in Longview, Wash. Eleven people were killed in the May 26 incident after a massive tank containing caustic white liquor imploded at the Nippon Dynawave facility. The autopsies were performed June 1 and June 2. How you can help victims and families The cause and manner of death for Dillon Miller was not available since he was taken to a Portland hospital not in the Cowlitz County Coroner’s jurisdiction. All of the deaths were ruled as accidental. One victim, 48-year-old Robert Wilson of Clatskanie, Ore., died from alkaline chemical burns and blunt force injuries. Another victim, 38-year-old Braydon Finkas of Cathlamet, Wash., died from alkaline chemical burns and asphyxia due to aspiration of a foreign object. Nippon Dynawave has not released additional details about the cause of the accident. State and federal agencies continue to investigate the incident.
