Multiple injured, one ejected from vehicle in two separate crashes on I-80 near airport
SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — There are multiple crashes on westbound I-80 near milepost 110, several miles east of the Airport, leading to delays on both sides of the freeway. One person was ejected from a vehicle, and three others are also reportedly injured. According to the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT), there is a crash on westbound I-80 at milepost 110. Currently, the left lane on WB I-80 is blocked. Additionally, the left lane of EB I-80 is also blocked. Current estimates state that the lane closures will be in place until 8:27 p.m., though that may be subject to change. Travelers should avoid the area, if possible, and expect heavy delays. Trooper Durrant, with Utah Highway Patrol, confirmed that there are two crashes in the area leading to delays. One crash involved a vehicle that rolled and came to a rest in eastbound lanes. A passenger was believed to be ejected from the vehicle and was transported to the hospital with moderate to serious injuries. One westbound and one eastbound travel lanes is closed but will be back open in approximately 20 minutes. A second crash occurred just up the way at eastbound I-80 near 7200 south involving a semi-truck and three vehicles. Two patients were reportedly transported to a local hospital from this crash with moderate injuries as well. The westbound right lane is currently closed at this location.
