Multi-vehicle crash leaves 2 people seriously injured in East El Paso
EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) -- The El Paso Police Department's Special Traffic Investigations unit is investigating a multi-vehicle crash, involving a rollover, on Tuesday, July 14, in East El Paso, resulting in six people being taken to a hospital. The call of the crash came in shortly before 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 14 along the intersection of Montwood Drive and Joe Battle Boulevard, under the Loop 375 overpass. The aftermath of the crash was confusing as far as details. Three people were transported with life-threatening injuries (code 3) and three people were transported with non-life-threatening injuries (code 1), according to a spokesperson with the El Paso Fire Department. However, EPPD spokesperson Sgt. Robert Gomez said five people were transported to a local hospital and two people were transported with life-threatening injuries. Five vehicles were involved in the crash, and the cause of the crash is under investigation, Gomez said. The Texas Department of Transportation sent out a traffic alert, noting that all lanes on Joe Battle at Montwood are closed. Clearing time is until further notice. Motorists are being asked to seek alternate routes and expect delays. Gomez noted that the intersection will be closed another three hours.
