Mercersburg, PA – June 6, 2026 - At approximately 6:26 a.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026, the Mercersburg, Montgomery, Peters & Warren Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Company (MMP&W) was dispatched to a reported motor vehicle accident with fire on Mercersburg Road. Initial reports indicated a head-on collision involving two vehicles with possible entrapment and fire. Due to the severity of the reported incident, additional EMS resources, fire apparatus, and medical helicopters were requested while units were responding. The first arriving EMS personnel confirmed a two-vehicle head-on collision with both vehicles actively involved in fire. Fortunately, all occupants had exited the vehicles prior to the arrival of emergency responders, either through self-extrication or with assistance from bystanders at the scene. A total of four patients were evaluated and treated by EMS personnel. Due to the nature and severity of the injuries sustained, multiple medical helicopters were requested. Three patients were ultimately transported from the scene by air ambulance to regional trauma centers, while one patient was transported by ground ambulance to a trauma center. Firefighters from MMP&W and assisting units from Washington County Company 13 quickly brought the vehicle fires under control and prevented further extension.
