Motorcyclist rescued from beneath SUV after Norwalk I-95 crash

NORWALK — The fire department rescued a motorcyclist trapped beneath an SUV following a crash on Interstate 95 southbound late Friday night, officials said. Firefighters responded to the area between exits 14 and 13 around 11:30 p.m. after initial dispatch reports indicated a collision involving a motorcycle and SUV with possible entrapment, according to a statement released Saturday by the Norwalk Fire Department. When crews arrived, they found the motorcycle and its driver pinned underneath the SUV, officials said. Firefighters used rapid-deploy lifting equipment and shoring techniques to stabilize and raise the vehicle, allowing rescue crews to free the trapped motorcyclist, the statement said. Norwalk Hospital EMS took over patient care at the scene, while fire personnel assisted with treatment during transport to Norwalk Hospital, officials said. The rescue operation involved both the Norwalk and Darien fire departments. The condition of the motorcyclist has not been released. State police are investigating the crash, officials said.
