Motorcyclist leads deputies on chase and then deadly crash
A motorcyclist led sheriff's deputies on a chase that ended in a deadly crash Sunday morning.According to the Pickens County Coroner, a Pickens County sheriff's deputy attempted a traffic stop on a motorcycle near Saluda Dam Road and Prince Perry Road in Easley. We're told the suspect kept driving and crashed soon after on Saluda Dam Road.According to South Carolina Highway Patrol, the motorcyclist drove off the right side of the road and into a culvert.The suspect, 58-year-old Stephen Buck Bowman, was not wearing a helmet and was pronounced dead at the scene. His autopsy is scheduled for Monday.The Pickens County Coroner's Office and South Carolina Highway Patrol are investigating.
