Motorcyclist killed in southern Iowa collision with SUV

CENTERVILLE, Iowa -- Authorities say one person was killed and another was injured during a southern Iowa collision between an SUV and a motorcycle. The Iowa State Patrol says the crash occurred just after 3 p.m. on Friday along S. 18th Street and E Green Street. Authorities say a GMC Acadia was heading northbound on 18th Street, while a Yamaha motorcycle was heading southbound. The Iowa State Patrol says the crash occurred when the GMC Acadia turned west onto Green Street, and the Yamaha motorcycle subsequently crashed into the passenger side of the Acadia in the intersection. Authorities say the driver of the Yamaha motorcycle, 50-year-old Brandon Kerr Baughman, of Unionville, Missouri, was transported by ambulance to the Centerville Hospital. ISP says Baughman died from his injuries. The driver of the Acadia, a 16-year-old from Centerville, was not injured, according to authorities. The ISP report states a passenger, 58-year-old Helen Lucine Elarton, of Centerville, was transported by ambulance to the Centerville Hospital. No details have been released regarding the severity of those injuries.
