Motorcyclist killed in Southern California crash involving undercover police van identified

A motorcyclist killed in a crash involving an undercover police vehicle in La Puente has been identified. The L.A. Medical Examiner's Office says 46-year-old David Cano was killed in the crash, which happened last Thursday morning. It happened at the intersection of East Amar Road and Evanwood Avenue just before 6 a.m. Officials said Alhambra police were serving a search warrant in the area when the collision occurred. The motorcyclist died at the scene after Alhambra PD personnel attempted life-saving aid, according to authorities. Two people inside the police van were treated for minor injuries. A preliminary investigation indicated that the Alhambra PD van was traveling southbound through the intersection after stopping at a stop sign. At the same time, the motorcycle involved was traveling westbound on Amar Road, approaching Evanwood Avenue. It's not clear what caused the crash, but nearby residents said speeding is a problem at the intersection.
