Motorcyclist killed in head-on crash with vehicle in Scioto County, Ohio
A person was killed and another was injured in a head-on crash on Sunday morning in Scioto County, Ohio, troopers said. The crash was reported just after 9:30 a.m. on Dry Run Road northwest of State Route 73 in Washington Township, according to a press release from Ohio State Highway Patrol. Troopers said a vehicle was heading southeast on Dry Run Road when it traveled left of center and collided head-on with a motorcycle heading northwest on the same road. The motorcyclist, identified by investigators as 50-year-old Jeffrey A. Hammonds, of West Portsmouth was pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers said the driver of the other vehicle was taken to Southern Ohio Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. According to the release, the Washington Township Fire Department, Portsmouth Emergency Ambulance Service, Scioto County Coroner’s Office and Central Wrecker Service responded to the scene to assist troopers. Troopers said the crash remains under investigation.
