Motorcyclist faces charges in fatal Christian County crash
A man from Springfield, Scottie Max Smith, born in 1975, is facing charges following a deadly collision in Christian County in May 2025. According to court records online, Smith has been charged with felony first-degree involuntary manslaughter along with driving-related misdemeanors. The incident, which involved multiple vehicles including motorcycles, took place on US-160 near Blue Spruce Drive. The Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to the crash where Smith was found lying on the road after driving a 2015 Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Tragically, one person lost their life in the crash. Smith and two other drivers were seriously injured and taken to a hospital. Smith is currently detained in Christian County Jail with a bond set at $50,000 and is set for a preliminary hearing on March 10.
