Motorcyclist dies after crash on Beaverton Hillsdale Highway

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – A motorcyclist died on Monday after crashing with a sedan in Beaverton, authorities announced. Just before 9 p.m. on Monday, Beaverton police officers were dispatched to a reported crash involving a Hyundai Elantra and a Ducati motorcycle near the intersection of Southwest Beaverton Hillsdale Highway and Highway 217 egress toward Southwest Canyon Road. First responders arrived on the scene and began lifesaving efforts, however, 25-year-old motorcyclist Joel Theodore Hanson of Beaverton, was pronounced dead. Witness statements and initial evidence suggest Hanson was traveling at a high rate of speed and maneuvering between lanes before the crash, Beaverton Police Department said, noting the driver of the Hyundai stayed on the scene and cooperated with investigators. The investigation has been forwarded to the Washington County District Attorney’s Office for review, which is standard for deadly crashes. Beaverton police remind drivers to drive attentively, obey traffic laws and to be mindful of speed, particularly at intersections. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact Beaverton Police Department.
