Motorcyclist dead, driver charged after two-vehicle crash on Riverview Road in James City County
JAMES CITY COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) -- A motorcyclist is dead, and a driver has been charged, after a two-vehicle crash on Riverview Road in James City County Sunday morning, according to the James City County Police Department. At around 5:56 a.m. on June 28, a motorcyclist wearing a helmet, identified as Gilbert Allen, 57, of Falls Church, was riding his motorcycle in the 5800 block of Riverview Road. He was then hit by a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction. Allen was transported to Sentara Williamsburg Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The James City County Police Crash Team conducted a crash investigation at the scene. At the time of the crash, Riverview Road was closed in both directions between York River State Park and Newman Road. The vehicle's driver, a 17-year-old James City County male, wasn't injured in the crash and has been charged with the following: The teenager is now in police custody.
