Motorcyclist dead after crash on NC Highway 210 in Cumberland County, NCSHP officials say
SPRING LAKE, N.C. (WNCN) — A motorcyclist was killed late Wednesday night following a crash involving a car in Cumberland County. According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the collision happened near the intersection of N.C. Highway 210 and Lillington Highway near Spring Lake. Troopers said the driver of a white car was traveling south on N.C. Highway 210 and attempting to turn onto Lewis Circle when the vehicle entered the path of an oncoming motorcycle traveling northbound. The motorcycle struck the car in the turn lane, causing the vehicle to spin into the southbound lanes, authorities said. Investigators said the motorcycle flipped over the car, throwing the rider into nearby woods. The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, according to state troopers. Authorities said alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash. The roadway was closed for several hours overnight but has since reopened.
