Motorcyclist dead after crash on East Hartland Road in Barkhamsted
BARKHAMSTED, Conn. (WTNH) — A motorcyclist is dead after police said he was involved in a crash with a tow truck on Saturday afternoon just south of the border between Barkhamsted and Hartland. According to Connecticut State Police, at around 3:43 p.m. on Saturday, the driver of a Kenworth T280 truck was parked in the southbound lane of East Hartland Road just south of the intersection of Hayes Road when a Yamaha YZF-R1M motorcycle heading south collided with the truck. The operator of the motorcycle, identified as 27-year-old Matthew Sherwood of Wolcott, was taken to Winstead Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the tow truck was uninjured and refused treatment at the scene. This crash is still under investigation, anyone with information is asked to call Trooper Montano of Troop B at 860-626-1820.
