Motorcyclist critically injured in collision Cambridge near Desert Inn, police say

A 20-year-old motorcyclist suffered life-threatening injuries in a crash late Thursday morning at a busy east Las Vegas intersection, police said. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officers responded at about 10:37 a.m. to a collision at East Desert Inn Road and South Cambridge Street. Police said evidence at the scene and witness statements indicated a 2025 Hyundai Elantra was traveling westbound on Desert Inn Road and making a left turn on a flashing yellow arrow onto southbound Cambridge Street. A 2022 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle, driven by a 20-year-old man, was traveling eastbound on Desert Inn Road in the rightmost of three travel lanes as it approached the intersection. A 2017 Chevrolet Equinox was northbound on Cambridge Street, stopped for a solid red traffic signal, and positioned for a right turn onto Desert Inn Road. Police said the crash happened when the Hyundai failed to yield the right of way and crossed into the motorcycle’s path. The rider was ejected from the motorcycle and then collided with the left front of the Chevrolet. Emergency medical personnel took the rider to Sunrise Hospital, where his injuries were determined to be life-threatening.
