Motorcycle rider killed in freeway collision in Berkeley
A tragic incident occurred on Sunday afternoon on the I-80 freeway in Berkeley when a motorcyclist lost their life in a collision with two vehicles. The California Highway Patrol responded to the scene just after 3:05 p.m. on the eastbound side of the freeway near University Avenue. The motorcyclist was ejected from their bike and succumbed to their injuries on the westbound side of the freeway. The CHP stated that a crash involving the motorcyclist, an Acura TSX, and a Honda Accord occurred. Fortunately, all parties involved cooperated with authorities, and there is an ongoing investigation into the circumstances of the incident. It was reported that alcohol and drugs were not factors in the crash. As the investigation continued, several lanes on both the eastbound and westbound sides of the freeway were closed, with plans to reopen them after 7 p.m.
