Motorcycle rider dies in Tippecanoe County crash

INDIANAPOLIS — A motorcycle rider is dead after a Honda allegedly turned into the bike's path. According to the Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Department, deputies were called to the intersection of U.S. 231 and Veterans Memorial Parkway shortly before 2:30 p.m. on report of a crash. Police believe a Honda CR-V, driven by a 69-year-old Lafayette resident, was attempting to make a left turn when the driver failed to yield to the oncoming motorcycle and turned into its path. The motorcycle collided with the Honda and sent the rider flying from the bike. The driver of the motorcycle was declared dead after being transported to a hospital, the sheriff's department said. The Tippecanoe County Coroner's Office is still working to identify the deceased driver. The sheriff's department said the driver of the Honda was also taken to a hospital in the aftermath of the crash. At this time, no arrests have been announced.
