Monroe County Sheriff’s Office investigating fatal crash
MONROE COUNTY, Ind. — The Monroe County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Wednesday. In a Facebook post published around 9:13 p.m., MCSO indicated that its deputies were working at a crash scene located along South Rockport Road. In its post, the sheriff's office confirmed one person was killed in the crash. Deputies also reported that the person killed in the crash is not a child. MCSO made that fact clear in its Facebook post in an effort to debunk rumors about the crash that were spreading online. "Some other social media sites have posted the deceased victim of the crash was a child," MCSO administrators wrote in the Facebook post. "The deceased individual is not a child." The sheriff's office is expected to issue a press release on the crash at a later time. The Monroe County Crash Investigation Team has been tasked with examining the incident.
