Mobile police chase ends in arrest after car crash
UPDATE (5:45 p.m.): Mobile Police Department officials have identified the man accused of leading officers on a chase Tuesday afternoon. According to officials, 30-year-old Mason Marzette was arrested after a traffic stop led to the chase, which ultimately ended in a crash in the 600 block of Williams Street. Marzette was charged with tampering with physical evidence, felony attempt to elude, reckless endangerment, and use/possession of drug paraphernalia. PREVIOUS REPORTING: MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — A police chase in Mobile has ended in a crash and a suspect's arrest. A driver reportedly refused to stop for police officers in the area of Houston and Virginia Streets, which led to the chase on Tuesday, April 14, at around 3 p.m. Officers attempted to use spikes to slow the suspect down at one point during the chase. The pursuit reached speeds between 70 and 80 miles per hour and ended on Holcombe Avenue and the 600 block of Williams Street, with the suspect crashing their car. Following the crash, the suspect was tackled in the front yard of a home. News 5 is on the scene and learned that both the police and the suspect hit multiple vehicles during the chase.
