(WKRG) — A local man arrested following a burglary has also been charged in a crash that resulted in a semi-truck catching fire, sending the driver to the hospital, where he died, according to the Mobile Police Department. According to an MPD news release, 47-year-old Terrele Lutin of Mobile was arrested Thursday morning after police were called to the 1000 block of Marine Street in reference to a burglary. Officers on patrol in the area of Marine Street and Bernice Hudson Drive around 11:30 a.m. were reportedly flagged down regarding the burglary. They searched the immediate area and found the suspect, Lutin, and detained him. Lutin was charged in that case with second-degree burglary and attempting to elude. Investigators had already been looking for Lutin because of a deadly crash that took place around 1:30 a.m. April 15 on Interstate 10 near Tennessee Street. In that incident, a semi carrying cars struck a vehicle sitting in the middle of the interstate, causing the semi to leave the road and hit a concrete barrier, sending it over the bridge, where it landed on Tennessee Street and caught fire. The driver of the semi, 26-year-old Aram Saakian, was sent to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and severe burns. He died in the hospital on April 19. Police said Lutin stated he left his vehicle unattended in the middle of I-10 after running out of gas. He reportedly said he heard the crash but "continued to leave the scene on foot without notifying law enforcement." Lutin has now been charged with leaving the scene of an accident with death in addition to the burglary and attempting to elude charges, and a warrant for no driver's license. He is being held at the Metro Jail on a $300 bond for the no driver's license charge and no bond for the remaining charges.
