Midland motorcyclist dies after crash on Business Interstate 20

A motorcyclist died following a two-vehicle crash in Midland County. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Elton Wade McKenzie, 74, of Midland, was taken to Midland Memorial Hospital and later transferred to University Medical Center in Lubbock. Officials said McKenzie died March 23 from injuries sustained in the crash. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, according to DPS. DPS said the crash occurred at 7:55 p.m. on March 20 along Business Interstate 20 and County Road 1150. Preliminary information from DPS indicated that a 2025 Ford F-250 was traveling southbound on County Road 1150, and a 1997 Kawasaki motorcycle was traveling westbound on BI-20. The driver of the Ford failed to yield the right of way at the stop sign-controlled intersection of BI-20 and collided with the Kawasaki. The crash remains under investigation. No additional information has been released.
