Man's System Had Meth During Fatal Crash Following Police Pursuit

FOX59/CBS4 has requested a photo of Edward Baxter, but it has not been provided at this time. As soon as the mugshot is released, it will be included in the report. In Indianapolis, a man has been charged in connection with a fatal crash on the city's southwest side last year while he was evading authorities. An officer from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department noticed a silver Buick LeSabre around 3:30 a.m. on October 24, 2025, and discovered that the registered owner, Edward Baxter, had active felony warrants. A female passenger was also observed in the car. Following two attempts to stop Baxter's vehicle, he continued to flee from the officer, ultimately resulting in a collision with a semi at an intersection. The crash claimed the life of the passenger, Alicia Lane. Baxter sustained serious injuries and was eventually taken into custody after being released from the hospital. Blood tests revealed the presence of THC, amphetamine, and methamphetamine in his system during the incident. Baxter now faces charges related to the crash, including driving at a significantly excessive speed. He has been assigned a cash bond and his driver's license has been suspended, with a court hearing scheduled for later in January.
