Man who survived 4th of July parade accident wins big in Ohio Lottery
FREMONT, Ohio (WJW) -- Nearly a decade after surviving an accident during an Independence Day parade, an Ohio man is celebrating a big win. Duane and his 18 month-old daughter were among five people hurt when an antique tow truck crashed into two tractors during Fremont's Fourth of July parade in 2017. Duane suffered multiple heart attacks and lost his job in the years that followed, according to a news release from the Ohio Lottery. "They struggled financially but were always thankful because they had survived," the release said. Recently, a little luck came his way in the form of a lottery ticket. According to the Ohio Lottery, Duane bought a $10 Money Money Money Scratch-Off ticket on his way home from work. The ticket revealed a $500,000 prize. “I looked at it for a long time. At first, I thought something was wrong,” Duane said, according to the lottery. After mandatory taxes, Duane will receive a total of $366,250. He plans to buy a new vehicle, take a family vacation, help out a few close friends and invest the rest. The winning ticket was sold at the Hy-Miler at 801 W State St. in Fremont.
