Man killed in overnight hit-and-run crash on Far South Side

CHICAGO — A man is dead, and an investigation is underway following a hit-and-run crash on the city's Far South Side overnight. According to police, the deadly crash unfolded around 11 p.m. in the 8700 block of South Ashland Avenue, in Auburn Gresham. Officers said the victim, a 36-year-old man, was standing outside in the area when he was struck by a beige colored sedan that was heading east along 87th St. Following the crash, officers said the sedan continued east along 87th. The victim suffered serious injuries in the crash and was taken to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Authorities have not yet identified the victim killed. The crash is just the latest in a string of hit-and-runs that have unfolded around the city in the last week. On Wednesday night, a man was killed in a hit-and-run crash on the city’s Southwest Side. Just two days earlier, a woman was critically injured in a hit-and-run in Humboldt Park.
