(FOX40.COM) — One man was killed and another man injured in a three-vehicle crash on Highway 70 near Vinton on Thursday morning, California Highway Patrol officers announced. 63-year-old Danny Price of Loyalton died after being extricated from his vehicle and airlifted to the hospital, according to the CHP Quincy-area office. Video: Wrong-way driver safely pulled over on Interstate 80 Officers said the accident happened around 11:17 a.m. Thursday on Highway 70 east of Highway 49 near Vinton in Plumas County. A 69-year-old Beckwourth man driving a Ford F-150 westbound on Highway 70 — for reasons still under investigation — crossed into the eastbound lanes, where he collided with a Ford Explorer carrying a man and his family. After the initial impact, the Ford F-150 continued in the eastbound lanes, where it was struck by Price’s vehicle, a Dodge Dart. Once he was removed from his vehicle, Price was airlifted to Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno, where he later died. The Ford F-150 driver exited his vehicle on his own and was transported to the hospital for treatment. The family in the Ford Explorer was not visibly injured, officers said. Alcohol and/or drugs are not suspected to be factors. The investigation remains ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the CHP Quincy area office at (530) 283-1100. Loyalton, where Price was from, is about 10 miles south of Vinton.
