Man killed, 2 kids taken to hospital in Medina County crash involving semi

HOMER TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WJW) -- A two-vehicle crash in Medina County led to the death of a man and the hospitalization of two juveniles Thursday afternoon, the Medina County Sheriff's Office reported. Deputies said they were called to the area of Jeffrey Road and Lafayette Road in Homer Township around 12:30 p.m. for reports of a crash involving an SUV and a semi-truck. Upon arrival, it was learned the driver of a Lexus SUV failed to yield to a stop sign when entering the intersection, according to the sheriff's office. The driver of the truck was going northbound on Lafayette Road then was unable to avoid the SUV and crashed. The SUV driver, identified 44-year-old Jason Henry of Wooster, was pronounced dead at the scene. Deputies said he wasn't wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. Two juveniles inside the vehicle were flown to nearby hospitals. The 30-year-old truck driver was treated at the scene. The sheriff's office said speed may have been a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation at this time. Drivers were asked to avoid the scene as the intersection was completely shut down while an investigation was underway.
