Man from Coushatta dies in tragic New Year's Day accident

A tragic accident on the early morning of New Year's Day resulted in the death of a man from Coushatta, Louisiana. According to Louisiana State Police Troop E, the incident took place at 1:11 a.m. on January 1, 2026, on Interstate 49 northbound near Natchitoches. The driver, identified as 42-year-old Chad White, lost control of his 2025 Kia, colliding with a contractor arrow board before overturning on the roadside. Unfortunately, White, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle and sustained fatal injuries. An investigation is ongoing, and a passenger in the car, who was wearing a seatbelt, suffered only minor injuries. Toxicology samples were taken for analysis.
