Man flees police, causing multi-car crash that injured 10-year-old: state police

A Mechanicsburg man was arrested last week after state troopers say he caused a multi-car crash after fleeing from local police. Raphall Pattereson, 35, allegedly fled from Hampden Township police while driving on Pennsylvania Route 581 on Monday afternoon. Pattereson lost control of his vehicle as he approached an off ramp, crashing into the back of a stopped vehicle, according to Pennsylvania State Police's crash report. The stopped vehicle was pushed into two other vehicles in front of it, troopers said. The driver and a 10-year-old passenger were both transported to a local hospital for reported injuries. Pattereson sustained a "suspected minor injury" in the crash, according to state police. No one else was reportedly injured in the crash. According to his docket, Pattereson was arrested the same day and later released on bail. It's unclear why police were initially attempting to him. Pattereson was charged with the following felony and misdemeanor charges: Fleeing or attempting to elude officer Evading arrest or dentention on foot Causing accidents involving death or injury while not licensed Recklessly endangering another person Tamper with/fabricate physical evidence Possession of small amount of marijuana for personal use Pattereson's preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 16 in Cumberland County court.
