Man facing charges for deadly street racing crash in Oklahoma City

A family is mourning after police say a suspected drunk street racer crashed into a vehicle carrying seven people over Memorial Day weekend, killing a 13-year-old boy and his grandmother. The crash happened just after midnight May 24 near N.W. 39th Expressway and Portland Ave., an area residents say has become a popular spot for street racing. According to an arrest affidavit, witnesses told police they saw two vehicles speeding and racing before a Dodge Challenger crashed into another vehicle that was not involved. Officers said they found Felix Santiesteban Acosta lying near the Challenger when they arrived and stated they could smell alcohol on him. Police said he initially denied drinking but later admitted to drinking before getting behind the wheel. Investigators said the Challenger struck a vehicle carrying seven people, including three adults and four children. Police said Cecilia Vasquez and her 13-year-old grandson died at the scene. Felix Santiesteban Acosta is in jail facing two counts of second-degree murder. He is also jailed on complaints of aggravated DUI, DUI causing great bodily injury, reckless driving, causing a fatal accident without a valid driver's license, and driving with a license that was canceled, suspended or revoked. Police have not released details about the other driver they believe was involved in the alleged street race, and no additional arrests have been announced in connection with the investigation.
